Before Iridium Had a Name
Before Iridium had a name, it was simply the way I learned to see the world.
I noticed things.
I noticed changes in people, shifts in behavior, what was said and what wasn't said. I learned to pay attention to environments, patterns, silence, and the things that sometimes exist beneath what we can immediately see.
Some of that awareness began as survival.
Today, I use it with intention.
For a long time, I thought understanding my life meant remembering every piece of it. I searched for answers to memories that came in fragments and questions that did not always have answers.
Eventually, I realized something important:
I do not need every missing piece to know who I am.
I know enough.
I know the little girl who survived.
I know the teenager who was still becoming.
I know the young woman who was happy to be alive while carrying things behind her smile that others could not always see.
And I know the woman sitting here today.
I See Her Differently Now
When I look back at the little girl I was, I no longer see only someone who needed to be rescued.
I see someone who was helping me survive.
She was bold.
She was brave.
She was observant.
She was creative.
She kept looking for light.
And somehow, she carried those things forward until I was old enough to understand what she had given me.
So I thank her.
The little girl in me never died. She never left.
I believe she is still part of the reason I can sit across from another human being and remember that there may be more to their story than what I can see.
Why Iridium Exists
Iridium Response Consulting did not begin because I wanted to turn my trauma into a business.
It began because I recognized that what I had learned could become useful.
Experience taught me to notice.
Healing taught me to understand.
Working with people and systems taught me to ask better questions.
And life taught me that sometimes the smallest signal deserves our attention.
That is the lens I bring into my consulting, workshops, creative work, community involvement, art, and everything I continue to build.
I don't believe safety should begin only after something terrible happens.
I believe we can learn to notice earlier.
To listen differently.
To question assumptions.
To recognize changes.
To make room for humanity.
And sometimes, simply to ask:
What am I not seeing?
Still Becoming
I am still becoming.
I am still learning.
I am still creating.
And I am still discovering what Iridium can become.
The woman I am today was shaped by many things—some painful, some beautiful, and many that existed somewhere in between.
But my past does not get to own everything that came from it.
I get to decide what I build with what survived.
That is what Iridium represents to me.
Not the worst thing that happened.
But the possibility that observation can become insight, experience can become purpose, creativity can become a pathway, and what once helped someone survive can someday help someone else be seen sooner.
If you have made it this far into my story, thank you for taking the time to see more than a title, a company, or a résumé.
You have met Sunshine.
You have met the little girl who stayed.
You have walked part of the journey with me.
And now you know a little more about the woman behind Iridium.
I'm still here.
And I'm still building.
